Finalization of Divorce
In Texas, there is a 60 day waiting period before a divorce may be finalized.
The 60 day waiting period begins with the date a petition for divorce is filed with the Court.
Example:
If a spouse files for divorce on June 1, then the earliest this divorce can be finalized is August 2.
Please note that the spouses do not have to get it done by the 61st day from filing but that is the soonest it can be finalized.
